Motion sickness

Last week the Journal Sentinel ran an interesting story about how Dustin Sherer is working on improving his throwing motion. He makes an interesting point. It's tough to just radically change your throwing motion when you've been doing it your whole life.

My first question is: why did it take Sherer until his fifth year in college to make this change? You'd have to imagine the accuracy issues that plague him now on account of the throwing motion have plagued him his first four years in the program.

Which leads to my second question: where's the coaching on this? Does our staff just coach the starters? Did they think Sherer was never a viable starting option so he wasn't worth the time investment?
This goes back to my bigggest concern regarding the current staff -- player development. Guys like Sherer are who we will typically get in recruiting, guys with some talent and potential but not surefire stars like Matthew Stafford or Terrelle Pryor. If we are to succeed, these two- or three-star guys need to be coached up.
Sherer's throwing motion should have been addressed and corrected three years ago, not now, when he is the incumbent starter at the most important position on the field.
